  • I see where you’re coming with that, and in principle, some of the points you make I would clearly share under different circumstances.

But to me, even with the side effects, rapid rollout of green tech (even if its production is not kept to the best standard) beats slow incremental growth with good standards in place, given the urgency with which world requires it. After all, even poorly produced Chinese options very much do offset their footprint compared to the alternatives.

There are some points for concern, such as the use of lithium ion batteries, for example, but Chinese companies also think ahead and implement alternative options - in case of batteries, they increasingly work with sodium-ion instead.

As per “unfair” subsidies - I’d rather urge all countries to go all in and compete on those, rather than complain about those who implemented them. Subsidies for green tech are essential to secure our future, they boost the green industry and expedite its expansion, and they should only be seen as a good, not the evil.

Proprietary Nvidia drivers are seen as a necessity, not a “good thing”, which is why Nvidia was repeatedly pressured to give up the code. Open-source Nvidia drivers suck in all applications, and if you don’t need anything demanding, you probably wouldn’t have a solid Nvidia card in the first place.

Gnu side of Linux tries to change the practices used by said businesses, and the more people embrace it, the more pressured companies become to be compliant.

Any sane copyleft activist (of which there are many in the Linux world) sees this change as a betrayal; security experts and enthusiasts are also not happy about a program doing something unknown sitting on their system.

As a microbiologist, I get to work with such freezers from time to time - they, too, get used for long-term storage. Technically, at around +4°C most organisms (but not all) put their activity to a halt, which is why your fridge is set at that, and at around -18°C just about everything stops any processes (thereby, freezer temperature), but the thing is, freezing at -18°C leads to the formation of relatively large ice crystals, which causes many cells to rip and die, which is perfectly fine if you want to preserve food (except cells in food also rip and unfrozen products are not quite like the original), but not optimal if you want to store cells themselves. If you freeze at -80°C and lower, smaller ice particles end up not damaging the organisms so much, and they can later be restored. However, such fridges are expensive and draw, like, A LOT of power, and storing much stuff under such conditions gets costly.

Nowhere near as costly as the offerings are, though.

  • What I happened to notice with different girls as a guy is that for many, of not most, telling/showing the right way is a turn-off and having something the right way without showing first is a source of tremendous excitement.

With that said, we, men, are still not mind readers, and women really do have it very differently, so some common sex education, while useful, can only cover the basics, and even they are not universally applicable.

  • As an actual owner of a similar thing: no

The problem isn’t even how much water comes from there (you can figure it out and not set the water jet to full power), but rather that you are expected to insert this thing back and forth, which, trust me, you won’t do since your anus is unprepared, unexpanded and, well, dirty.

So, while interesting on paper, this thing doesn’t really work the way it’s intended to. There you have it!

  • Riots always start with vocal minority and get more and more people engaged.

America is not lost, and has plenty of people ready to take it on the streets. They just need a push. And having others around fighting for their future is the kind of push that can wake such people up. It’s way easier to join rather than start.
