For starters, there are only right and extreme right policies among the Dems and Reps. Secondly, there is a massive pool of disaffected voters that would vote for a lukewarm progressive like Bernie, who was projected to even steal Trump voters, because progressive policy is popular. The Dems ran rightward and lost their voters in general.

As the contradictions within Capitalism sharpen, more and more workers are radicalized and develop Class Consciousness, but without reading theory, this can be taken advantage of by opportunists. The Capitalist machine is very good at this, they redirect problems with the system itself to other areas, like immigrants, queer people, and more. Theory helps cut through that smokescreen and allows us to see how to move beyond Capitalism.
You can’t vote out fascism, fascism is Capitalism in decay and it doesn’t care about electoral politics.
I think you underestimate how many don’t vote because neither party offers them something worth voting for. A huge percentage of US Americans don’t vote, yet polling for progressive policies always polls better.
By going progressive you aren’t convincing the rare swing voter, but the massive number of disaffected voters. These aren’t far-left, but disenfranchised from the entire system.
They’d win elections more frequently, and the collapse of the US Empire would slow just a bit.

I absolutely can acknowledge the real existing struggles faced by AES states, and can offer contextualization or explanation of how we can avoid making the same mistakes. What’s more evident than anything is that you don’t actually know what those struggles really were, so you throw it all under the banner of “COMMUNISM BAD,” which I can’t engage with.
If you ask me about a specific event, time period, action, etc. we can have an actual dialogue. Failing all else, I recommend you read Blackshirts and Reds by Dr. Michael Parenti, he takes a critical eye towards the successes and failures of the Soviet Union in a way that analyzes what actually happened there.
Eventually the real world will let you know that Marxists are right, yet again.
Both Wage Labor and Capital and Wages, Price, and Profit are free, as well as excellent for beginners with no experience in economics (though it’s easier to understand if you’ve at least taken a high-school or college level economics course).

What do you mean? How do you keep using money after moving to a fully publicly owned, planned economy? You will still use tokens to exchange for goods from the public, but it wouldn’t be tradeable with others to prevent accumulation and profit.
Yes, actually, eventually abolition of money is an important goal of Communism. You may wish to read Prices in a Planned Economy to learn more about what that looks like and how it’s done.

Liberalism is the ideological backbone of Capitalism. Capitalists are Capital owners, not just supporters of Capitalism.
