It’s useless to attack maga in a space where everyone agrees it’s shit. However I see lots of people on here acting like Harris isn’t complicit in genocide.
The amount of votes Harris lost compared to Biden 4 years ago can not be explained by accelerationism. Tbh I wish the left in the US was so big as to affect so many voters. Harris lost because she run a bad campaign. Her message did not appeal to the masses because it was centrist bullshit that would not improve anyone’s life in a meaningful way. She also alienated a huge part of her arab voterbase by clearly not giving a fuck about arab lives. Instead of condemning genocide she promised to keep supporting Israel. Trump also promised to end the war, that should tell you something about what those words mean.
Supporting genocide and deporting immigrants = fascism.

I’m as left as it comes
No you’re not
No worries, it’s good to keep your guard up around some of the commenters here lol
It’s because if a man is victimised then we don’t need to convince other men that they’re a person and didn’t deserve something bad happening to them. I’m not advocating for feminists to speak about men’s issues (they already do though). I’m saying that women are more often dehumanised which is why some people think they need to specify that a victimised woman is someone’s daughter/sister/mother/etc. The person I’m replying to is rejecting the assumption that dehumanisation of women takes place.
A lot of men see only the women in their family as human, other women are just potential mates. This is why some people try to humanise women victims by pressing the fact that they are someone’s daughter/sister/mother. Why don’t we see the same language used on victimised men?
Not true. It might be that people with illnesses that cause a higher risk of heart attacks can also make it more difficult for them to go out and meet people due to low mobility or chronic pain or fatigue.
While agree with the sentiment, electorialism will never end capitalism because of the power imbalance where capitalists will spend all their money if they need to for heavy propaganda campaigns in favour of capitalism.
Your energy is better spent on small scale organising your workplace, to make sure that you and your coworkers can actually use the only leverage you have through strikes.
The word world is literally in the name… When I joined lemmy I started there because I assumed it would be a general instance. It’s like worldnews where 90% of posts are US politics. Also, it’s not an obsession, most times it comes up it’s just a joke (like this meme).
‘A system that counteracts those selfish tendencies’ you mean a system in which:
It doesn’t prevent them from attracting a lot of neonazi’s and giving minimal (to no) punishment to said neonazi’s. It also hasn’t prevented then from committing war crimes in Afghanistan.
Where in Europe do you consider islam to be more than a ‘cultural category like Christianity’? Most European countries have large Christian conservative political parties that are preventing trans people from getting the medical care they need and women from having ownership of their bodies when they’re pregnant.
As a trans person fundamentalist Christians are a much bigger threat to me than fundamentalist muslims. I experience solidarity from muslims who know what it’s like to be marginalised and discriminated against. There are muslim people who would like to restrict my determination over my own body, but there are way more Christians in my country who would like to do the same and they pose and actual threat to me.
Wanting to ban mosques, the quran and muslim clothing like niqabs sounds pretty fascist to me (that’s what the biggest political party in The Netherlands wants). Thinking the European far right (that is rapidly gaining grounds) isn’t fascist or fascist leaning is a wild take.
Different communities then I guess, I browse ‘all’ a lot.
I guess me being a mathematician makes me notice them more. I’ve seen many in several communities, but me being biased makes me wish there were more.
This meme is highly misinformed about how any of these academic subjects work though. (Meta)physicists and theologists don’t make claims, they research the consequences of certain assumptions. Most elementary sciences work that way.
Telling people not to protest is a great way to accept fascism.
