  • The difference is the intent and the background behind it.

Sure for maximum mass adoption the computer can out-research any human and just find the blandest set of rules which cater to the highest percentage of the majority.

What it still will have a hard time doing, and I predict it will be for quite some time - probably until we have quantum computers - is to come up with a new way of doing poetry which is not just copying what humans did but better.

I think of AI like it’s China, they are super efficient in copeing things and gradually making them better and cheaper but the setup of their society makes it impossible to really innovate.

And yeah I’m saying that it’s the setup, because in Taiwan they are able to innovate at a much higher rate.

  • Honestly I thought it was a fake story because of how they presented themselves while doing in on a very niche fediverse platform like Lemmy where practically only people end up who are very interested in technology, politics, freedom, etc. All topics which require quite a degree of abstract thinking and knowledge.

So even if this IQ number were correct, which I have a hard time to believe because if how eloquent they use language and how analytic they see their life, it probably has no base in reality but was a test fluke.

  • In the long run there is no way around it. To be honest if on device voices would be good enough then just sending the text version and let it read on the device in a somewhat natural voice would be kind of cool. I’m already using a special app which just reads any article I share with it in a fairly ok voice and I love this functionality, I don’t need to sit down and read a long article on my phone, I can do something else and just make it read the article to me.

What I am worried about though are the people who do the research and who write the texts. Those sadly will also be replaced over time with machines and there is something we will really lose.
